SI's MLB Truth And Rumors Round-up
SI.com took a look at some rumors floating around MLB this Spring Training. Some of the notables:
Remember Houston's loss of Beltran to a $17 million per year contract? Well guess what... Lance Berkman wants $15-17 million over five years. The Astros have offered $12 million over three and four. The result? Berkman said "no thanks" and gave them a deadline of opening day to come up with the new contract.
Mike Sweeney, who has missed 146 games over three seasons, says he feels better than he has in recent years. Is it too late to stop a trade? GM Allard Baird says not right now. According to the Kansas City Star, he's dismissed all trade rumors.
Cameron for Urbina? Newsday says the Mets have shown interest. I'm also sure the Tigers wouldn't mind see Cameron man CF. Newsday reports one of the wants from the Tigers is $3-4 million cash to help with the $12.5 million Cameron salary. Not a bad deal. Tigers could benefit from it, but would be hurt in the bullpen. I like the idea of Ugie setting up and Percival closing. We'll keep an eye on this one.
